Democrat Tom Suozzi won the special election for New York's 3rd congressional district with 53.76% of the vote.

Tom Suozzi

Tom Suozzi previously represented the seat from 3rd January 2017 until 3rd January 2023. He refused to run for re-election in 2022 due to his campaign for the Democratic nomination for Governor of New York, which ended in him losing the nomination to the incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul.

His successor (and now predecessor) George Santos was expelled from the House of Representatives on 1st December 2023 following 2 federal indictments on 23 criminal charges. His expulsion led to the special election that returned Tom Suozzi to the House of Representatives.
